The clinical trials of the Flexiglass™ Silicone Ocular Prosthetic System commenced in June of 2005.
With help from Oculoplastic Surgeons from the Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis, Tennessee, Patients were selected who had previously experienced problems with their current prosthesis, as well as patients who had never had an ocular prosthesis.
After only six months, the supervising physician contacted all of the patients involved, in order to determine the efficacy of this new product.
100% of the patients felt their Flexiglass silicone eye had significantly alleviated symptoms they had experienced with their acrylic counterpart.
100% felt their silicone prosthetic was more comfortable than their acrylic counterpart.
100% said they will choose a silicone ocular for their next prosthesis.
After nearly two years, the system continues to successfully improve the quality of life for patients young and old.
